Cube RoomCUBE ROOMThe middle layer needs four edges. With white down and yellow up, those edges have neither white nor yellow. Finding the correct piece and deciding whether it belongs to the left or right comes before memorizing eight moves.
Check the bottom layer, then find the target
For this example, the white layer and the other middle edges are solved. The target is the blue-orange edge at top-front. Blue faces front and matches the blue center; orange faces up, and the orange center is on the right. The piece therefore belongs in the front-right middle slot.
“Right insertion” names the target slot. It does not mean the first move must send the target toward the right. Judge the purpose of the whole sequence rather than one piece's momentary direction.
Eight moves in three groups
U R U' R' U' F' U FWatch the groups U, R U' R', and U' F' U F. First move the target out of the way, then work from the right, and finally finish from the front. The front, right and top layers all participate. Temporary movement of the bottom layer is normal; check its restoration after the complete sequence.
Pause the demonstration to follow the blue-orange edge as a piece, not just an orange sticker. An edge has two colors and must ultimately match both of its centers.
Three cases that cannot copy this setup directly
- The target is at top-front but its front sticker does not match the front center: adjust the position or orientation first.
- The target belongs in the front-left slot: use a left-insertion treatment rather than this right-insertion sequence.
- The required edge is trapped in the middle with the wrong position or orientation: it generally needs to be removed before preparing an insertion. That is not the starting case shown here.
Top edges containing yellow are not middle-layer targets. If you can see only yellow edges on top, inspect whether the needed middle edge is already trapped on a side instead of inserting an arbitrary top piece.
How to judge the result
Check the entire white bottom and the bottom two rows of all four side faces. All pieces in the first two layers should match their centers; a correct-looking front-right slot alone is not enough. Cube Room checks those preserved areas, so finishing the move count with an incorrect state will not pass.
